I have been an artist for over twenty five years. My mediums are primarily pastel, and oil. My goal as an artist is to find that elusive place where the subject and its environment are in complete harmony - light is their mediator. For me seeing how light connects my subjects to a moment in time remains central to all my work.

When painting, I use a theme, some structure, specifically the drawing elements which must be accurate then I depend on letting the process unfold almost unconsciously. This slipping between structured artistic knowledge and working without knowing what I might do next is always challenging.

At the completion of each painting I have tried to capture not just a realistic representation, but a hint of something more, some intangible element that makes life even more beautiful because of its mystery.
